Getting out of your own way. What does it really mean?

Get Out of Your Own Way

This has become a bit of a buzz phrase over the last few years.

I couldn’t agree more I really do need to get out of my own way but I was never really sure what it meant.

Yesterday I was listening to a masterclass about something unrelated and had a lightbulb moment.

It's simple, you know what you are supposed to be doing to get to where you want to go but you are not doing it.

  • It could be that you want to lose weight and you have been tuning in to all the good advice so you know what to eat and when … but you are still eating doughnuts and chocolate.

  • Maybe you have a new qualification or a great business idea. You need to get yourself out there in the marketplace and get yourself known, get clients and start making an income … but you are still watching TV and scrolling through Facebook.

  • Perhaps you have tried having a morning routine and find that when you have got up early, done yoga, meditated and journaled you have had a much better, more productive day … but you are back to hitting the snooze button again.

Why do we do that?

You could call it procrastination or just being lazy but very often it’s the subconscious mind at work. The subconscious is always pulling you towards the familiar and away from the unfamiliar.

If you change the habit of thought you can change the habit of action.

Are you even aware of the 60,000 plus thoughts that you have in a day? Many of these thoughts are outside your conscious awareness. Who knows what is lurking in our subconscious minds.

Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality - Earl Nightingale

One of the differences with Rapid Transformational Therapy compared to hypnotherapy is that we always regress to find out what the root cause of any issue is. We identify the root cause, interrupt the belief, and install new beliefs and habits.

It’s amazing how powerful understanding is and for many clients who come and see me it can be quite an eye opener to look into their subconscious mind and see where a belief came from that has been getting in the way.

What would you be doing today if you stopped getting in your own way?

You are far too smart to be the only thing standing in your way.
